Valentine’s Day White Berry Sangria

white berry sangria

It’s a few days early but, we’re all ready for Valentine’s Day over here! As much as Ben likes to drink whiskey and beer, he’s secretly a fan of my little girly cocktails. Specifically sangria. He loves fruity drinks and whenever I make sangria, I can always expect him to have a few glasses. I made this today as a little treat for our relaxing weekend after getting our living room and dining room floors laid. We’ve been busy on weekends and weeknights for the past few weeks and this weekend we agreed to do absolutely nothing. For a pre-Valentine’s Day drink, I made this White Berry Sangria. I used frozen fruit because it was easy and cheap and cooled off my Pinot Grigio real quick! You can truly use any fruits you like but my favorite combo is as follows.

White Berry Sangria Recipe

8 oz. white wine (I chose a Pinto Grigio)
4 oz. triple sec
2 oz. Kinky liqueur
2 oz. ginger ale
Ice
Frozen mixed-berry fruit (strawberry, blackberry, raspberry is my favorite)

Fill your glass with ice. Pour the ingredients over ice and stir. Garnish with fruit. Let fruit steep for a few minutes and serve. The longer you let the fruit steep the fruitier (and pinker) the drink gets!

Pink Russian Cocktail

Valentine’s Day is 3 weeks away and that gives you plenty of time to start planning your menu! For the past 5 years or so, Ben and I buy huge steaks and then come up with some decadent pasta side to make along with them. Then we feast on our coffee table watching Netflix. Yes, we’ve been known to eat on our coffee table even on romantic holidays!

I’ve already started planning our meal and I think this year I might make these Creamy Garlic Parmesan Shells. We also usually buy a nice bottle of wine to go with our steaks, but this year I wanted to make a fun cocktail. I thought I’d stick with the decadent theme and make a creamy, fruity drink to sip while we’re cooking steaks together. That is our style of romance ;) So instead of a White Russian, which I am very fond of – I give you the Pink Russian!

Pink Russian Cocktail

2 oz vodka
1 oz mint simple syrup
1 oz strawberry liqueur
3 oz heavy cream
Strawberry and mint for garnish

Can we take a moment and appreciate these Stemless Wine Glasses? One of my favorite gift websites, Gifts For You Now, gave me a look at their personalized Valentine’s Day gifts and I had to have these little babies.

If you’re still looking for a Valentine’s Day gift for her, I don’t know a lady in my life that wouldn’t like a new set of wine glasses! Here’s how to fill them up with a fruity cocktail!

To make the mint simple syrup, boil 1/2 cup of water and add it to 1/2 cup of white sugar. Then add a handful of mint leaves, about 3 stalks worth. I make mine in a mason jar so I can shake it up to dissolve, but be sure to wrap a towel around it while shaking so you don’t burn yourself! Pop that in the fridge until it’s completely cool.

To make the cocktail, I put everything in a shaker and stirred it with a spoon then poured over a full glass of ice and garnished!

I also got this Ampersand Couples Pillow for our bedroom because it’s one of the only rooms nearly finished in our house and decorating it calms me down when I’m about to throw power tools out the front window. Have I mentioned that I’m ready to be done renovating? Since it looks like we won’t be getting all our projects finished for Valentine’s Day gifts to each other this year, I think these glasses and adorable pillow are the perfect substitutes!

Bourbon and Pear Cocktail with Maple Ginger Syrup

It’s starting to feel like fall to me. I swapped out all my soaps in the house to fall scents and I’m slowly putting my shorts and dresses into closet storage until next year. Summer is my favorite season, but I really try to embrace fall and everything that comes along with it. I love pumpkins and baking and booties, but I think my favorite thing about the season change is moving into a different style of recipes. Especially cocktails!

I can’t wait to enjoy this fall and winter sipping on some drinks by our new fireplace. Better still, I know I can fully relax even if I’m out of cocktail supplies because I now know that Drizly exists. Drizly is an alcohol delivery service and they’ll bring what you need right to your door. Yes, you heard right! Browse from your couch, choose your booze, and get it delivered along with ice, limes, and anything else you might need for a fun night.

Browsing their website got me in the mood to try a new cocktail. This cocktail has just enough fall flavors to get me excited for the changing leaves and cooler weather!

Bourbon and Pear Cocktail with Maple Ginger Syrup

2 oz. bourbon (I used Bulleit and you can buy it for delivery from Drizly here!)
1.5 oz. pear juice
1/2 oz. maple ginger syrup (recipe below)
1/2 oz. lemon juice

Maple Ginger Syrup

1/2 cup maple syrup
3 Tablespoons sliced ginger
Pinch cinnamon

In a small saucepan, add your maple syrup, cinnamon, and ginger and bring to a simmer on low heat for 15 minutes. Pour the syrup mixture into a sealed jar and keep in the fridge overnight to cool off.

For the cocktail, add a few ice cubes to a small rocks glass and pour the bourbon and pear juice over the ice. Stir in your maple ginger syrup and add a fresh squeeze of lemon juice at the end.

Top with a sliced pear for garnish and drink up!
