Sweet Chicken Wings

Sweet Chicken Wings

This is one of my favorite recipes I learned from my mom. We used to always have these wings for Superbowl parties or for New Year’s Eve. I remember when I first helped make the marinade for these wings. I may have tasted it while it was still melting on the stove… Now, every time I make them, I have seriously disturbing fantasies about drinking it with a straw straight out of the pan. We’re going to go ahead and pretend that’s normal.

Ingredients:

3 lbs. frozen chicken wings
1 cup soy sauce
3/4 cup water
1/2 cup butter
1 cup brown sugar
1 tsp. ground mustard

Preheat your oven to 350.

Melt together butter, soy sauce, brown sugar and ground mustard in a saucepan on medium-low heat, remove from heat and let cool.

Sweet Chicken Wing Marinade

Transfer wings into freezer bags (I used two and did 1.5 lbs in each) and pour half of the cooled marinade into each bag.

Seal bags and place flat in your refrigerator and flip the bag every 30 minutes for 2 hours (total of 4 flips).

Sweet Teryaki Wings

These marinade for at least 2 hours. I’ve done them over night and it works just fine too. You just have to be sure the first 2 hours you’re marinading, you flip them so they get an even coat of the sauce. Then you dump them into a pan and cook them IN the marinade.

Chicken Wing Marinade

Bake for 1 hour or until the wings AND the marinade are at least 165-degrees. The marinade will look more clear when everything is all cooked.

Chicken Wings

These are sweet wings. No heat at all. I have been thinking of a way to add some spice without making them taste weird, so I’ll update after I get that all figured out. I made them with my mom’s cheesy potato recipe, which I’ll share at a later time!
