Mac and Cheese Review: Pepperidge Farm Goldfish

I am a self proclaimed mac and cheese connoisseur. If I see a new cheesy noodle product at the store, you know I have to try it. I’ve tried as many as I can find and I usually have a pretty strong opinion about it. That’s why I’ve decided to start reviewing some here on Mac + Molly! This brings me to my very first installment: Pepperidge Farm Goldfish Mac and Cheese

Pepperidge Farm Goldfish Mac and Cheese Review:

You’ll prepare this just like any other boxed mac and cheese. I always skip the butter and just use milk in boxed versions. I just prefer it, but you can make it according to the box instructions.

Sauce: This sauce is VERY cheesy, which I like. It is the “fake flavor” cheese that most boxed versions have, but I never mind that. I find it a little cheesier than Kraft, so if you’re a fan of a cheesier and less creamy sauce, this might be for you.

Pasta: I was a little excited (maybe overly) about the Goldfish shaped pasta. I am a huge fan of Goldfish crackers and shaped pastas in general, and this didn’t let me down. Cute little smiling goldfish! The pasta kept its shape and didn’t get overly mushy when cooked according to the box.

Overall: For the $1.00 I paid, this wasn’t a huge mistake. It was a decent lunch and I will admit I nearly ate the whole box. I like the thicker cheese sauce and the noodle shapes.

Would I eat this again? Maybe. I wouldn’t mind trying the Butter Parmesan flavor once, but I wouldn’t ever try the Pizza or Nacho – just not my thing!

Molly wanted to get in on this cheddar action and wasn’t shy while I was taking pictures!

  • We tried the Butter Parmesan flavor. It was edible, but I don’t think I’ll buy it again. I thought the noodles were too big and gooey and seemed a little uncooked, like the Loretta said. The flavor was very mild, so if you are a fan of that these may be for you. We like a BIG cheese flavor. LOL.

    • Good to know! I haven’t tried the nacho cheese and probably won’t with what I’ve heard in these comments :)

  • Sorry but my grand kids and Son did not like the Mac & cheese nacho cheese and they are big mac and cheese eaters. They felt the taste was to cheesy and the fish noodles had an uncooked flavor. Just thought I would let you know.

    • Thank you Loretta! I haven’t tried the Nacho Cheese flavor, but I’ll probably steer clear of it thanks to your comment ;) What are your grandkids’ favorite kinds of mac and cheese? I’d love to give them a try!
